Former England cricketer Graham Thorpe has been appointed as the head coach of the men’s cricket team by the Afghanistan Cricket Board. Thorpe, a 52-year-old Afghan, took over after losing his job at his country’s coaching setup.
The left-arm stylish batsman played 100 Tests and 72 ODIs from 1993 to 2005. Lance Klusner left the Afghanistan team in November last year. This time he was replaced by Thorpe.
Stuart Law, a former coach of Bangladesh, West Indies and Middlesex, was appointed by the Afghans as interim coach. This time Thorpe was given the post of coach for a full term. The names of Misbah-ul-Haq and Azhar Mahmood were also heard for this post.
