Former national team cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel is no more.
After battling a brain tumor for more than three years, left-arm spinner Mosharraf Rubel of the Bangladesh national cricket team has finally returned to the country.
He had to go abroad and go through all the complicated treatments including chemotherapy.
He was admitted to Square Hospital in the capital with physical complications in the middle of last month.
Four days ago, his health condition improved and he received a ruble from the hospital. But on Monday his condition deteriorated and he was rushed to hospital. The ruble arrived in the country at around 5 pm on Tuesday.
Rubel was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2019. She underwent successful surgery on March 19, 2019 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore under the supervision of neurosurgeon Elvin Hong.
He was preparing to return to the field in 2020, healthy and normal. But fell ill again in November. After an MRI in the last week of January 2021, it was found that the old tumor was growing again.
Musharraf Rubel took 4 wickets for the national team in 5 ODIs and scored 26 runs with the bat.
Rubel, who plays regularly in the domestic league, took 392 wickets in 112 first-class matches and scored 3,305 runs with the help of two centuries and 16 fifties at bat.
List A took part in 104 matches, took 120 wickets and scored 1,792 runs with the help of 6 fifties at bat. In the short format of T20, Rubel took 60 wickets in 56 matches and scored 72 runs.
