The West Indies made history with a dramatic victory

Only 9 runs needed in last 3 overs. 2 wickets in hand. Both the batsmen are set in the wicket again. The tide of victory was tilted towards England.

From there, the West Indies snatched an incredible victory. England lost 2 wickets in one over and lost by 6 runs. For the first time in the history of the Women’s World Cup, the Caribbean lost to the English.

The toss in Dunedin was in favor of the West Indies. The Caribbeans put on 225 for 7 in Shemaine Campbell’s half-century. In reply, England were bowled out for 216 with 14 balls remaining in the innings.

West Indies had a good start in batting. Diendro Dotin (31) and Hayley Mathews (45) gave up 61 runs in the first 20 overs. From there the Caribbeans lost 3 wickets in 5 balls.

One hundred years ago (96 runs) lost 4 wickets. However, Shemaine Campbell and Chedin Neshan brought the fighting capital to the team with a big partnership of 123 runs for the fifth wicket. Although Campbell was out for 6 runs, Neshan (49) remained unbeaten in the end.

Sophie Eccleston of England took 3 wickets for 20 runs.

In reply, the Caribbean bowlers scored 94 runs and the English lost half of the innings. Opener Tammy Bemont fought but was dismissed for 47. Then Demi Watt (33) and Sophia Dunkle (38) took the helm.

But after the return of this pair, England lost 6 wickets for 156 runs and feared defeat. From there, the English dreamed of winning again in the great battle of number nine batsman Eccleston and number ten Kate Cross.

But the last defense is no more. In the first ball of the 46th over, Eccleston shot bowler Anisa Mohammed touched her finger and broke the no-strike stamp. Cross (26) was caught in the unfortunate runout.

After two balls, the last batsman Aniya Srubsule was bowled by Anisa to the delight of the Caribbeans. Eccleston left the field with the pain of losing from unbeaten 33 runs.

Shamili Connell is one of the most successful bowlers in the West Indies. He took 3 wickets for 36 runs. Anisa and Mathews took 2 wickets each.

The West Indies are second on the points table in the Women’s ODI World Cup after winning both the matches. England lost two matches in a row. Australia at number one with two wins.
