South Africa have announced their squad for the two Tests against Bangladesh. Newcomers to the team are Khaya Jondo, Ryan Rickelton, Lizard Williams and Darren Dupavilon.
It was expected that the hosts would not be very strong and not see many stars for this Test series with Bangladesh. Because their Test players have chosen IPL.
Three fast bowlers, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Janssen, were left out of the squad. The three will play for Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.
In the absence of these three stars, pacers Lutho Sipamla and Lizad Williams have been called up. Keshab Maharaj is a frontline spinner.
Aiden Markram and von der Dussen will not play Tests for the IPL. Number three batsman Keegan Petersen, who did not play in the last New Zealand Test, has returned to the team.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Rickelton has not been named in international cricket despite the team’s new faces, Jondo and Dupavilon, who have experience playing in ODIs.
The first test will be on March 31. The last match is on April 6.
South Africa Squad: Dean Elgar, Temba Bavuma, Darin Dupavilon, Sarel Irwin, Simon Harmer, Keshab Maharaj, Wayne Mulder, Duanne Olivier, Kigan Petersen, Ryan Reckelton, Lutho Sipamla, Glanton.
