Mirage’s great throw, runout Petersen

Bangladesh spent the second session much better than the first session. The Tigers could not take any wicket in the first session. Bangladesh lost three wickets to Proteas in the second session. Before the tea break, South Africa scored 163 runs for 3 wickets.

However, the most significant event in the second session will be the run out of Kigan Petersen in the direct throw of Mehdi Hassan Miraj. Pietersen and Temba Bavuma wanted to take runs by playing on points. Fielder Mirage, standing at the point, stopped the ball with lightning speed and threw it at the wicketkeeper’s end. The ball goes straight and hits the stamp.

At first the umpire did not give out. The TV umpire called. The replay showed that the stamp was broken before the batter arrived. Keegan Petersen was dismissed for 19 off 36 balls.

The game of the third session has started at the time of writing this report. The Proteas lost 3 wickets and the score was 16. Temba Bavuma with 28 runs and Ryan Rickelton with 19 runs.

Earlier, two openers Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwie were leaving the Bangladesh bowlers one by one. After remaining unbeaten on 95 at the end of the first session, they were batting comfortably in the second session as well.

But the 34th and 35th overs are good luck for Bangladesh. Bangladesh returned two openers in these two overs. Fast bowler Khaled Ahmed and spinner Mehdi Hasan Miraj bowled for two overs in a row.

Dean Elgar caught the ball behind Khaled Ahmed in the second ball of the 34th over. Liton Das did not delay in catching the catch. The opening pair broke 113 runs. Elgar was dismissed for 7 off 101 balls.

The wicket fell again in the next over. This time another opener Sarel Ervi was out. He scored 41 runs off 102 balls. The team run was 116 at that time. Erdi became bold with the ball of Mehdi Hasan Miraj.

After winning the toss and fielding at Kingsmead in Durban, captain Mominul Haque must have thought that bowling would overwhelm the host South Africa from the start. But his thoughts did not match the reality.

After losing the toss, the Proteas lost no wickets in the first session of the first day. Bangladesh bowlers have tried to pull. They did not see any success even after bowling 25 overs. The Proteas collected 95 runs without losing a wicket in the first session.

Spinner Mehdi Hasan Miraj has joined Taskin Ahmed, Ebadat Hossain Chowdhury or Khalid Ahmed. But they could not catch the break in the opening pair of Proteas.
