Nick Pothas has stepped down from the post of assistant coach of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The Protea left the BCB job mainly citing family reasons. He himself confirmed this information on social media.
He had a contract with the BCB until March 2026. However, the Protea coach left Bangladesh just before an important event like the Champions Trophy. In a post on social media, he announced his resignation and wrote, ‘I will miss you.’
‘Like all good things, this chapter of mine has come to an end. I have had an amazing time with many in Bangladesh cricket. We have set many records together, made history and made wonderful memories. Now I am looking forward to spending some good time with my family. Then we will see what the next chapter holds.’- he added.
Despite leaving his post, Pothas wished Bangladesh cricket the best. He wrote, ‘A wonderful year awaits Bangladesh cricket ahead. Best wishes to everyone in the team. I will miss you.’
Pothas joined the Bangladesh coaching panel in 2023. Before that, he served as the head coach of the Sri Lankan team in the 2017-18 season. Moreover, this Protea was the head coach of the West Indies in the 2018-19 season.
Apart from the role of head coach, Pothas has also been seen in the roles of assistant coach and fielding coach.
