Bangladesh pushed Pakistan to a record of shame

The Bangladesh women’s cricket team has won its first match in its third match in the World Cup. The Tigers opened their World Cup-winning streak with a 9-run victory over Pakistan. And Pakistan’s name has risen in the record of shame in this victory of Bangladesh.

The Pakistani girls have set an embarrassing record for the longest match rate in the history of the men’s or women’s ODI World Cup. They lost to Bangladesh in 16 consecutive matches. The last time they won a match at the World Cup was exactly 13 years ago.

Pakistan started its journey in the Women’s ODI World Cup in 1998. They have to wait until the 2009 event to get the first win. After losing six matches in a row, they went on to win the seventh match by 56 runs against Sri Lanka.

After one match, they lost to West Indies by 4 wickets. That day was March 14, 2009. Exactly 13 years later, on March 14, 2022, the Pakistan women’s cricket team lost its 17th match in a row in the World Cup. However, they are not alone in losing 16 matches in a row.

Zimbabwe also has an embarrassing record of losing 18 matches in a row in the men’s ODI World Cup. They went on to play their first World Cup in 1973, losing to Australia. But then until the 1992 edition, 18 matches were drawn in a row.

Then in the 1992 World Cup, they lost again and won by 9 runs against England. This time Zimbabwe can get rid of this record. The Pakistan women’s team will play against the West Indies next Monday (March 21). If they lose that match, they will set a new record of shame.
